In this landscape series, a vibrant mountain slice emerges from beneath dull, muted surroundings, symbolizing Native American people and their stolen land. As an anti-racist white person descended from those who perpetrated genocide, this series expresses my grief for lost lives, culture, and vibrancy.

The cactus represents the individualism of white supremacy, while the expansive, dull terrain symbolizes power hoarding. Red spots in the vibrant mountains signify the millions of Native American lives lost to colonialist genocide.

This work, inspired by standing on stolen land and witnessing ongoing atrocities like the Palestinian genocide, captures the masking effect of white supremacy after historical horrors. It reflects on how dominant culture flattens dissent, harming even the privileged.

Through this art, I invite viewers to confront uncomfortable truths of our shared history and consider the lasting impact of past genocides on our present reality.

100% of the proceeds of this series will be donated to the Sogorea Te' Land Trust.
